HOJOE Ritual - (June 2nd)
HOJOE is one of the oldest symbolic rituals acts involving animals in Japanese Buddism. The ceremony consist in releasing fish and birds back into the wilde as a gesture affirming belief in the sanctity of all animals life.
Also SHINTOISM perform the HOJOE rituals. (Shinto adopted the tradition form Buddhism during the EDO-period. )
Therefore HOJOE is celebrated throughout the country, in Buddhist temples and Shinto-Shrines.
