It's a Stretch

This squirrel never ceases to amaze me with its acrobatic ingenuity. It has to jump to the top of the black bump (ironically called a squirrel baffle) from which it runs up the skinny angled pole. It turns itself around at the top, and hanging on to the pole with its hind legs, it  stre-e-e-tches for the almost empty bird feeder, grabs it and pulls it toward him. When its legs start to lose their grip because the weight of the feeder is pulling away, it either slips off, flipping in midair and landing on the ground far below, or somehow gets its forepaws onto the pole, heads up again and repeats the whole process. I watched in fascination as it did this numerous times, perfecting its moves each time....

Other than driving to Pilates and back I've done nothing today except immerse myself in Blipfoto stories.  I've missed weddings, incredible holidays, births and deaths  and all the small details of life in between the momentous ones. They are all important.  It has served to take my mind off Spike's surgery tomorrow, the thought of which I'm not handling too well, and I'm more caught up than I've been in a long time, so thank you, once again Blipfoto community for just being there....
