As usual, on my return from these European trips, I find it easy to wake up early, so I made the most of it today by going for a walk down to the river before it got too hot.

There is a lot of preparation going on for the big July 4th fireworks event taking place in a few days’ time down here by the river.

These large hibiscus flowers caught my eye as I walked barefoot on the little sandy man-made beach.
