submariner's shopping list

today i was browsing in my local used book shop, when this shopping list fell out of a 1933 naval engineers handbook.

the previous owner had written his name and rank (sub-lieutentant) inside.

in my head, i like to think that he was responsible for the groceries on a sub in WW2 and that the Battle of the Atlantic was won by:

tea (with plenty of sugar)
rice pudding
woodbines..
....and mars bars,

......and let's just forget the lemons (not very British, are they ?)
