A quiet moment before the music begins

Tonight we sang at our end of the year fundraiser. It was our last performance for the season. After our warm up, we assembled in the newly renovated basement of the church, awaiting our curtain call.

I took the opportunity to soak in the moment, ambling about the room, making mental snapshots (as well as digital ones) of all the familiar faces I've come to know so well, some contemplative, some animated, others deep in thought.

Our energy was good tonight, and the audience deeply receptive and appreciative of the performance. We're all looking forward to a few months' respite from formal rehearsals, but I doubt all singing will cease entirely!
