Sunday lunch with the family
Knowing that Liana - Marianna's mum - would be flying back to Athens on Monday, we fixed up to have Sunday lunch all together. Here's Ruth having a quiet moment with Simone. Ruth has absolutely no desire to have a third child, but is loving these quiet moments with her new niece.
I chatted with Liana about how she was feeling, going home after nearly a month here. 'Mixed feelings' was the understandable answer: it's been an intense month, and she's really ready for a rest and a return to her own life. At the same time, it'll be a wrench. However, Jack, Marianna and the girls will be going to Greece for a month in the autumn, all being well.
Apart from that... Eben was able to show off his skills on the new drum kit. For the moment it's upstairs in my study, so there is some privacy (insofar as drum kits and privacy can ever be said to coexist...)
This was quickly followed by almost everyone else having a go. Frieda and Eben agreed to have one drumstick each, and tapped out a few rhythms on the toms. I was pleased to see them responding to the kit as a musical instrument, and not as a vast, complex toy. At one point I heard Jack having a little dabble. Later Josh settled in for a real session - and he's good, really good. Maybe we'll be able to encourage him to play more often...
