Gargoyle (shadow of)

At lunch in Split on Wednesday someone mentioned gargoyle and we all searched Croatian word for it. This afternoon while waiting for B. I took a photo of St James's church in George Street with shadow of gargoyle. This evening I bumped in to article in magazine about gargoyles which enlightened (at least to me) origin and meaning of the word : gargoyles are water spouts. And finally although they are of medieval origin magazine carried a photo of gargoyle that was added in 1910 to 14th - century Palencia Cathedral by the architect Jeronimo Arroyo. That gargoyle was in shape of man holding a camera
