Born To Be Wild . . . Steppenwolf

Last night we found all the camp sites in Seward were full because it is a holiday weekend for the 4th of July so we retraced our route and along the highway pulled into a rest area and parked up.  We were not murdered in our bed and in the morning found a caravan had also  pulled in after us.  We are noticing a lot more traffic here on the Kenai Peninsular and want to be back in Chicken.
Driving on today we saw these large white shapes in a pond.  On finding a place to pull over we walked back and watched them.  At first I only saw the parent birds but soon the little ones stood up and followed mum and dad to swim.  Not just a pond it has lily pads and it's in Alaska.  I believe these are Trumpeter Swans.  I will have to look them up and learn more.
Next excitement was another moose siting.  This one had antlers but was wary of us and walked behind a bush.  I got it's side profile.  I am glad it walked away and not towards us.
In the afternoon we came to Kenai and the friendly lady at the information centre circled on the map where to see Sandhill Cranes which is another bird I only know from blip. (2nd extra.)  At the end of a bumpy road we found spaces in a state campground.  Along the road there seemed to be an equal number of cannibus  shops and churches.
