messing about on the river

after a morning spent in Wivenhoe for the June market we persevered with our Dedham double date in warm clothes and lots of layers (I am wearing two cardigans in this photo!) so chilly!

we started out with a picnic and found ourselves by a 'mayfly birthing pool' !! so many mayflies breaking for their one day of life but due to lack of heat were not very good at flying and thus mostly getting gobbled up by ducks!!

Paul, seated at the back, was the best rower of all but Caroline was pretty good and this is me and Caroline attempting to avoid the banks! during all these row duty changes we so very nearly tipped up, lots of shrieks and laughs! A good Saturday.
