Hungry

A swallow has taken a risk in building its nest using a small ridge on the door of a (fortunately uninhabited) house. I’ve been checking on it regularly, and today saw that the chicks had hatched out — three of them. This is a phone photo taken by S — my visits with a proper camera were repeatedly thwarted by people standing around chatting in the street, or revving their mopeds nearby. Hopefully they will survive to fledge.

My first swim of the summer today! The water was not as cold as I feared it would be, despite the brisk breeze, so I did my usual 20 lengths. Then it was the first village Sunday lunch of the season. Convivial as ever — Ingrid has arrived, so we sat with her, Sue, and Marie-Françoise. The advertised poulet Andalou turned out to be chicken with red peppers in a cream sauce, served with tagliatelle. Not very Andalusian, but it was good.
