Fairy Cakes

Old school baking complete with hundreds and thousands :)

In my day these were simply called buns or fairy cakes, none of this cupcake business.

Simple sponge recipe that I could make in my sleep, in fact the only reason I check my cook book is for the oven temp, I still think in gas mark electric is stupid.

I also still mix my cake mix old school as well (well ok I do make a concession for an electric whisk, but was taught with the humble wooden and metal spoon) makes me cringe when you see modern recipes telling you to put ALL the ingredients together in a food processor, there is a reason for each step do not take short cuts or you will not get a nice light fluffy sponge.

Time for a spot of reading and then sleep, off to meet new people and their sprocker spaniels tomorrow :)
