Lake Louise to Jasper
We were up and out at 6am to have a walk around Lake Louise. We'd read that parking is a nightmare but that certainly wasn't the case at 6am!
Lake Louise is certainly an impressive sight with the Fairmont Chateau Hotel sitting on the edge of the green lake surrounded by snowy mountains and pine clad hills. When we arrived we had clear views all around but the clouds quickly moved in so by the time we'd finished our walk it looked quite different.
After breakfast we started to make our way back to Jasper stopping at Peyto Lake, Big Bend and Columbia Icefield. Personally I thought Peyto Lake pipped Lake Louise - it was so blue!
Over the two days we saw a moose, big horn sheep, elks, a snow hare and a black bear (from the saftey of the car!). As well as numerous small marmots, chipmunks and squirrels careering around.
We arrived back in Jasper before 5pm to return the car. We returned to the hotel to pick our bags and get some dinner before catching the overnight train to Vancouver.
Peyto Lake is the main and Lake Louise the extra.
