Canfranc

A train then bus - onto local services now - over the Somport Pass and to Canfranc - famous for its grandiose station building now a luxury hotel. After buying some groceries and finding my less luxurious but more practical apartment for the next 2 nights I went for an afternoon hike up the valley. The wild flower meadows are overwhelmingly beautiful and rich. I picked some alpine strawberries which brought back memories. And was especially pleased to find a martagon lily and my first gentian as well as at least four species of orchids.
