Cinque Torre, Dolomites

One of the many trenches that we wandered along this afternoon whilst exploring the fortifications from WW1 above the Bai de Dones. It was fascinating to read all about the history of the area as we made our way through the rocks high up in the mountains. We nearly didn’t walk up as rain was forecast but it was worth it, even if we did get a bit wet. The Cinque Torre themselves are in the extras as well as more fortifications and the town of Cortina.

We also had an early morning walk around Misurina lake before driving to Cortina for a food shop and a wander around the cobbled streets.

This evening we are spending the night at the Bai de Dones cable car station.
