The Reluctant Ash

Always the last to come out, the Ash is finally showing its leaves. Just to the left is the Oak, another slow starter and behind are Maple, Sycamore and Horse Chestnut. It is Old Country House Parkland. Although now used for grazing it is still full of a diversity of beautiful mature trees, some which are very old. In the next field is a magnificent Oak reputed to be the biggest Oak in Cumbria. Sadly there is nobody to look after these trees now and so they get diseased and occasionally a large chunk drops off or gets blown off. Hopefully one is not passing by when this happens.
