An outing to the Art Museum
Thursday
Cincinnati Art museum has a special exhibition on at present, called Picasso Landscapes: Out of bounds. The exhibition featured over forty five paintings and sculptures spanning Picasso’s full career, accompanied by several photographs, historic films and newsreels dating back to the era. We learned a lot about his life and his development as an artist through this exhibition. I’ve put a collage of some of his works in as an extra.
The painting top right is an early work of his, Street Scene, (Paris, mid fall 1900. Going clockwise, the next is Cafe in Rohan (1940), Bottom right is Landscape, Horta de Ebro, early summer 1909, then The Reservoir, Horta de Ebro, summer 1909, during his cubism phase, and finally Boisgeloup in the rain, March 1932.
After the exhibition we enjoyed a late lunch at the cafe, eating outside in the courtyard. As we had driven down to the exhibition, the skies were very murky and heavy, with poor air quality for sensitive groups, but by this time at least in the courtyard it seemed somewhat clearer. In the late evening we had some storms come through with torrential rain at times, so that should push some of the high level smoky air out.
