Wildflowers

It’s so hard to grow a beautiful wildflower bed.

It’s even harder to maintain a reputation for growing a wonderful one. 

For several years, my favourite was Hanbury Hall. Then I was more impressed by Calke Abbey. And at the right moment, Elford Walled Garden takes some beating.

I had a lovely morning at Calke Abbey, where it was quiet and huge fun to use the Merlin bird app. The gardens were super, as ever, with magnificent young flowers on the runner beans and lots of promise. 

It’s not the best ever, but I did love the wildflower bed.
