The Duck Hut

Where fresh vegetables, plants, cards and home baking can be bought. The hut is on the roadside is few miles along the road from the village to Salen, we decided to take a look and bought two established tomato plants.

Extras show how honest folk deal with sales around here, love it. There is a black box on the door with a kilner jar with change in the little shed.

A good outside day here with jobs started or finished and sometimes both. No midges until 8.00 last night when in a mad rush we covered the blackcurrant bushes, there was evidence that blackbirds are already taking the fruit, they can’t wait for the currants to ripen. And the midges loved us although no bites.

John thought these will be the most expensive tomatoes ever, buying in plants, a grow bag and tomato feed. He was telling a friend last night who thought we must have felt ‘frivolous’, John had to agree, all said with laughter. And fingers crossed we do have tomatoes. Otherwise the vegetable garden is looking good. For a couple days.
