Beware of tricky little nibbly things
I accidentally consumed rather more wine than was strictly sensible last night. I think it was the sweet chilli crunchy nibbly things with delayed hotness, and so I kept swigging to douse the heat. Not a good idea.
However, my alcohol-induced sleep, along with my earplugs, allowed me to miss the goings-on in the stairwell last night. The students upstairs, who are very quiet normally, must have been celebrating end of term. Tomatoes were seen in the foyer as we went out this afternoon.
So it was a very slow morning. I began to come right after midday, when we ambled off to the Meadows Festival. I expect there were lots of blippers there - there were some sights!
Took loads of shots at the wild drumming and dancing, but the best bits were when little toddlers got up and joined in. I was going to choose one of the dancing shots, but I couldn't go by this chap. He was making the most awful racket, IMHO, and as I took some shots from the side of the stage I nearly damaged my eardrums, as I was accidentally right by the humungous speakers.
He was playing a saxophone in my first shots, which looked great (the sax, not the shots) but he had a dark jacket on. As we walked away, I noticed he'd taken if off and had a colourful tee shirt on. I went back for more torture, but I'm glad I did - it's a lovely shirt.
I began to feel better when the smell from the Angus Beefburger kiosk wafted over, but the queue was a mile long. We wandered along to Summerhall to check out the Royal Dick. We had bread and dips and for the first time in my life, I uttered the words, 'I think we'll have the pigs' cheeks'. Must have still been drunk. The meat was delicious, but there was lots of glutinous fat with them, and I began to feel waves of nausea sweep over me. I had to ask the waitress to remove the leftover blobs of fat.
We then went to the cafe for cake. All in all, a nice relaxed day. Now for a relaxed evening, sans vino, with Mr Tivo.
Have booked to go on a puffin hunt!
