Lucky blip

While the dog chased rabbits (without any success) under the privet hedging at the hippodrome today I spotted this butterfly. It stayed still for a few seconds and I managed a few pictures with my camera. The results isn't too bad for a compact camera, with a warm butterfly.

When I was in the US, I had colleagues who took butterfly pictures very seriously and they kept them in the fridge, so they were nice and still when you wanted to take a picture of them rather than flitting about annoyingly!

Red Admiral / Vanessa atalanta I think.
