Midsummer sunset

Just starting to get dark at 11pm and not completely dark all night.

Still warm at night and in an effort to keep Fletch cool, rather than us weve had the bedroom window wide open and the curtains half open to let any draught come in.

Fletch has woken us up a few nights panting and I've ended up getting out of bed to let him into the garden round about 3am.

Of course as it's not very dark and cool hes been very happy smooching about under the shrubbery. I have been tempted to leave the kitchen door open and crawl back to bed to leave him come in when he wants but I've got a fear of mice moving in. ( Some years back we had a group of mice move in.. took weeks to get rid of them ! )

So, I lean on the garden gate half asleep before encouraging him back in the house  where he sleeps soundly. I meanwhile stay awake for an hour and just as I'm dropping biff to sleep the dawn chorus starts off.. this seems to be nothing but cheep cheep cheep from the band of sparrows who've moved into the garden.  I miss the blackbird  . He was much more tuneful.
I've a cool mat and cold wet flannel on standby to cool him down tonight . Fingers crossed!
