Middle of an onion

When I was making a curry for supper, I thought that the middle of the onion root would work for the MonoMonday theme of 'middle'. Thanks to Carolina for hosting MM.
I really wanted to post the extra as the main blip. I took a few photos of the owls this morning but none of them worked out. Then we saw the most amazing thing this afternoon and the photo would have been perfect to go with the story. G was sitting on the porch and saw an owl fly by with a snake in its mouth! He called me and we saw it land in a tree quite close to the house - and it fed the snake to two babies. Too many branches in the way to get a photo but so cool to see. The babies flew off and landed in another tree, again too much in the way for a photo. Just amazing to see this! G did see the adult again. Will have to keep our eyes open.
The owl in the extra belonged to my Mum and it's needed a few repairs over the years. One of the babies was hers too. The other one was given to me as a gift by the basketball team I coached years ago.
