Living Transplant Miracle

Nicki, who is a Freshman at University, is a dear friend's daughter. Zinny is a dear friend's baby; he was born with a problem with his liver and he had surgery to repair it at a few weeks old, but it didn't work so he needed a liver transplant. Waiting for an available liver from a deceased person can be long and sometimes too late. Several people tested to see if they could be a living donor, Nicki was a good match. It is possible to remove 1/3 of a healthy liver and it will grow back within a year with usually good results for the donor, except for the pain and suffering from the surgery!! Anyway, it was a month ago that Nicki and Vinny entered the hospital for the life-saving surgery. Now look at these two. Vinny is no longer a deep mustard yellow color and he is laughing and healthy.  It feels surreal that the recovery has gone so much better than expected and both are doing soooo well. Vinny will continue to need anti-rejection medication, but his future is bright.

I had to share their story here on Blip. It seems like a miracle after much prayer and medical intervention.
