Hawkesbury Road

Staying with Tsuken and family for a few days. He has photographed, and blipped, the sunrise from his home on a number of occasions. That is his patch. So I talked to him about my wish to continue with the Saturday Sunrise series. He suggested that I could see east from the bridge over the highway just outside the village.

I woke in plenty of time and went to the appointed place only to find that I was facing south east which at this time of the year is not the best direction for seeing the rising sun. On a previous visit I had run along Hawkesbury Road a wee way, and knew that there was a high point where a water reservoir is sited. Figuring that I might be able to see better if I went there, I headed off with a bit of speed.

I was right, both in terms of having enough time to get there, and in having a good outlook from where to see the sky. The sky was dark red with angry black clouds above. I have put the best of those into my blipfolio. I have also put there a shot of the Sydney CBD, with rather too much camera shake. [Note: if looking, they are the last two in the series Nearly; the link is not working directly]

It took me a while to see the beauty in these soft colours rather more south of the actual rising sun, but north of the central city. After careful thought, I have decided that the magic in this photo outweighs the drama of the red sky. Do look at it in large
