Well dressing

There are five wells/springs in Youlgrave and there were special well dressings at each of them.  They are made using flower petals, leaves, twigs and fabric.  This one was the first one, at the village church.  It was really hot today and the threatened thunderstorms never arrived.

We met a lady who was carrying a basket of flowers back along our road and she asked if we were enjoying our holiday.  She had been involved in the creation of one of the displays and said it's a real community activity.  She was from the south, like us, but had lived in the village for nearly 30 years and loves it here.
