Desert Rose Specimen
Went to a a neighbors house for a graduation party for their lovely daughter Robyn and had to take a few pictures of their colorful yard while mingling with the guests. Our neighbor, Don, loves desert rose plants and has several wonderful specimens scattered throughout the garden. This one in particular is quite large and dramatic. They are a slow growing plant that requires very little water. The stems are quite bulbous and hold water to keep them from expiring during drought periods. In Florida, it is more important that they are well drained and elevated from standing water. But he has the growing system down pat. He even grows them from seedlings. I always love seeing them as I drive or walk by and enjoy the spot of color they provide!
