San Juan

We decided to go back to where we were last year for the San Juan. Here’s a link to last year’s blip:

It’s on Carrer de Les Corts and a 15 min stroll away. And just like last year, it looked like nothing special was going to happen, then little by little, neighbours started arriving and up went some bunting. We recognised faces from last year and in this photo you can see little Ismael, who was learning to walk last year and he now has a baby sister, Aisha, here with their mother.

Everywhere did seem quieter this year though, perhaps because it was Friday and people may have gone away for the weekend, taking Friday or Monday off to make a ‘puente’ (bridge, long weekend).

The rest of the day I did some marking, loads of washing (machine loads I mean, rather than ‘lots’!) and then tried to get my head around the July allocation of item writing, issued today. After an hour or so of studying the examples, specifications and templates, I noticed an important discrepancy. Given that there are a small group of new item writers on board, who aren’t familiar at all with each item, these things should really be double checked. It would have been easy to start producing incorrect items and waste hours. I already wasted one, trying to figure things out and then messaging to get clarification.

I just looked at my blip from a year ago yesterday and it was of our first tiny tomato appearing. This year we’ve already had two on sandwiches and another six big ones, picked, and waiting to be enjoyed!
