Westgate-on-Sea to Margate
We set off with our friend this morning to walk to Margate. It was a lovely morning, a little bit cloudy and not too hot. We admired two special bench seats in St Mildred’s Bay, as well as some interesting beach huts. By the time we arrived in Margate there wasn’t a cloud in the sky and it was hot. We visited the Beatriz Milhazes Exhibition in The Turner and also saw Antony Gormley’s sculpture, “Another Time XXI 2013” on Fulsam Rock in front of The Turner, walked around the Old Town, had a light lunch, posted a card to a friend in New Zealand, then started to walk home. By then it was getting very hot and there wasn’t a breath of wind. When we got back to St Mildred’s Bay we treated ourselves to a sorbet to cool us down (mango and passionfruit for MrMacD and me, raspberry for our friend) and sat looking at the sea and watching the passersby as we ate them. From St Mildred’s Bay it wasn’t far to walk home, where we relaxed for an hour or so and drank lots of cold water until it was time to shower and change to go out for dinner. We had a wonderful meal at a local restaurant called Quince, then walked home and weren’t long out of bed. A most enjoyable last day in Westgate-on-Sea.
