The Things Of Nightmares
The rain has stopped me gardening today - so it has been time at the lathe and taking pictures of rubbish.
All things photographed are made from rubbish.
The box, the pot and the totally useless split vase are all made from the well past it, rotten Cherry.
The spinning tops are made from False Castor Oil plant and Mahonia which I cut back in the garden --- I have no idea what the FCO 'wood' will do as it dries, but the Mahonia is more than likely to 'bend' .... which will cause the tops to wobble slightly as they spin.
The tiny dish is made from a 'decorative' design piece on the front of the house which was taken down due to some rot. It was meant to be based on a Japanese design, but it is too 'deep' for the design to really work.
The lead nightmare shot what can happen when the extra soft, rotten bits decide to leave the game during the hollowing process (the lid has nothing to do with the piece - it was just put there to darken the 'eyes')
