The last of the poppies

I went back to the poppy fields . Normally as the poppies fade away they are replaced by a variety of other wild flowers. But this time lots of tall grasses have sprung up, not leaving space for other wildflowers. Perhaps the long spell of hot dry weather has caused the change. There was only one out of several fields still showing poppies. The grasses had a lovely soft texture.

But the place was spoiled by two separate young couples flying whining noisy drones over this field so they could get film or photos. There were several skylarks flying over this field, but now their air space has been invaded.

I KNOW that drones aren’t allowed on NT land, but The NT haven’t put up ANY ‘no drone’ notices! I have emailed them with a screenshot of NO DRONE signs available to buy quite cheaply on Amazon. I’m hoping they will buy some and use them, but I suspect they’ll have tedious committee meetings and not get anything done until next year!

All today’s poppy tramplers and drone flyers looked under 30. If they can’t respect the flowers and birds here, what hope is there for the future of the planet?
