Bog cotton

Fabulous walk around the Mull Head nature reserve this evening. Warm, sunny and with a gentle breeze.

The bog cotton and wild orchids are looking fantastic and the air was full of the song of skylarks.

Unfortunately the wind dropped off totally… something that happens about 3 times a year in Orkney… and the midgies came out to hunt. Don’t bother me much but my friend was getting eaten alive. Needless to say the last part of our walk was completed very quickly.
