Final Journey

We were at the funeral for our neighbour this afternoon.  The burial site was above the village, newly established (in the last few years) and what a scene!  The service, a secular one, was held in a building with a view to the north through massive windows, with the wicker coffin ready on the bier.  Then the lady's husband, daughter and sons pulled it about 200m to the burial ground itself, a sloping meadow with this glorious view.  They led the procession of mourners, family and friends, to the lady's final resting place.

It will look odd to read this, but each of us has to die, and this is an fantastic place to be buried, whether or not you believe that God made this place.  It is a far cry from the cremation production line, as it were.
