Freight Train

Every one of the last days has been hotter and more humid than the last, and today was the most extreme. A short rain shower in the early morning had saturated the air, and the 32°C by noon felt more like 40.

I had shopped for my mother and her carer K, and visited them for lunch. No easy task, as the usual road there has been closed due to roadworks, and I had to take a detour via this railway crossing, which closed just when I approached it.

But I got there in the end, and it was lovely in the Taunus hills; the air felt so much cooler and fresher. My mother looked relaxed and happy, and I can see that K is doing a great job looking after her.

Now I am back home in the humid Rhine valley. We’re waiting  and hoping for a forecast rainstorm, but so far it’s all dry and still warm at 30°C.

Edit: One storm hit us less than an hour after I posted this. It was quite intense but only lasted a few minutes. There may be more to come though. From the roof window, I took a photo of a still growing thunderstorm cloud southwest of us, see extra.
