Starling Fledgeling
Today was the big day for the young Starlings born in our roofspace!Today was the day they were introduced into the real world. At one point we had 20-30 fledglelings following half a dozen adults round our garden, squawking like something possessed?
After a while most of them dispersed, but one insisted on staying around and flew up into a nearby tree. From here it was watching other birds attending the feeder. After a while it came down and joined them, only to find out that a large Woodie or a Jackdaw, was not going to feed him like his mum and dad did!!! He received a few wacks from the bigger bids but persisted! Eventually he was left on his own so I replenished the feeder with some nice juicy Meal Worms and he tucked into them as if he was starving.
After a large meal and an attempt to bed down in the food tray,he was persuaded by a large Woodie to take up his post back in the nearby tree. Hopefully he tucked up for the night, ready for another challenge tomorrow ?
