Westgate-on-Sea
We decided to have a rest day today, so didn’t rush breakfast. Sometime after breakfast we walked along to the little shopping centre with my friend to purchase a few essentials and have a look around. It didn’t take long and soon we returned home again. After lunch we sat chatting and relaxing until it was time for MrMacD and I to walk to the station to catch a train to Dumpton Park, where we were met by the son and fiancé of the couple we were visiting, who were also staying for supper. They’re a lovely couple and totally devoted to one another but he has Parkinson’s and has deteriorated very badly since we last saw them seven years ago, although he still has his lovely cheeky smile. It was heartbreaking but also very special to see them both. G is always smiling and never complains, but I imagine she must cry a few tears when no-one is looking. We had a lovely evening, with lots of laughter and the time passed quickly. E and G very kindly drove us back to Westgate-on-Sea and it was so sad to say goodbye to them. It was overcast and windy most of the day.
