A messy Mournes
I bought some ‘graphitint’ paints from Derwent. It’s a blend of graphite with colour and is meant to be used for ‘dramatic tonal work’.
When I saw the paints I immediately thought about the Mourne Mountains, definitely a dramatic and potentially tonal landscape. I guess I need more practice as this attempt is very messy. It’s just a sketch, though, in a small watercolour notebook (about 5 inches by 8 inches) and so perhaps is good for this kind of experimental approach.
I’d like to be that person who stops while out on a walk to make a quick watercolour sketch in a little notebook I just happen to have with me!
As my then four-year-old granddaughter assured me last summer “I’m not like an artist, nana, I am an artist! That child is getting lots of affirmation. :-)
