Historic Marvel

The Marvel Bar Hotel in Coolgardie WA was built in 1898. It is described as a classic example of early Federation Free Classical architecture in Australia. At that time, Coolgardie was a fabulously wealthy gold-producing area, but was soon eclipsed by its even wealthier neighbour, Kalgoorlie. We passed through Coolgardie late this afternoon, and are now based in Kalgoorlie for a few days.
