Diver Zeuss!
We’ve been trying for literally years to get the mooring buoy chains checked….we lost two mooring buoys because of that but still have this one to the north..Well, yesterday our neighbor across the bay had “Zeuss” a diver from Galiano come over to retrieve something he dropped and H went to meet him. And engage him to come look at our chain. So today he was there precisely when he said he’d be…noon. (we are not used to this on the islands!) .. I sat on the beach on my spot on the log, this time at low tide (extra) to watch him AND the rain coming in from the NW.
All good…we can replace the bottom 20ft with thicker chain and be done with it. He'll be back in a few days with the chain. He also knocked many creatures off the buoy and chain, including a family of gunnels (like the herons eat) that probably had a “nest” under the buoy. The second extra is Suess explaining that to H. Happy Father's Day! It is now raining here... Sun came out after a bit and we tried to go to the marina to collect the rest off our stuff but just then, more rain. tomorrow will do…
Such an interesting fellow..he belongs to an organization I knew nothing about ..”Biodiversity Galiano” dedicated to raising awareness of Galiano’s flora and fauna. Includes Parker and other small islands nearby. He takes the underwater photos…says the sunstars have made a huge comeback after the wasting disease. He also works for the local hammock making company, who used to sell to the US Army.
It’s a darling little boat and painting (done by a teen working for him)
HIs name?? had to get a nickname when he was a kayak guide and there were 3 with the same name Dave. Since he wrote poetry people called him Dr. Seuss…. So……Zeuss!

PS, I cut the very top of H’s hat off in my haste to snap that photo…and Photoshop AI came to the rescue.
