Henry

I was looking for something in a seldom opened cupboard and came across my collection of Carl Anderson 'Henry' cartoons. These appeared on tobacco cards (J Wix & Sons) in the UK between 1935 and 1937 in five different sets of 50 cards each. I have most of the 3rd and 4th series which were both issued in 1936 and were collected by my grandfather. This particular one is from the 4th series. A bit like 'Gromit' Henry never speaks and all the expression comes in his eyebrows. He usually appears in profile, this is one of the few cards in which we see his full face, and is invariably involved in some kind of comic misunderstanding or scam.
