The deer didn’t get the roses this year!
We parked at #3 daughter’s this morning. Mr C walked to the Freeman for his hearing test and I practiced my shooting skills at the basketball hoop with Ella and Nathaniel. She’s started at a club instead of doing rugby. (She enjoyed rugby but her parents were worried about tackling injuries.)
We all had lunch when Luke got back from night shift. Mr C has been diagnosed with moderate to severe hearing loss and will get an appointment in 4-6 weeks to get aids. It will be so good. I’m so pleased he’s finally accepted he needs them. They also said we both should have gone to A&E to see an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist after the firecracker incident and to go there now, to the one that serves our area, Cramlington. There they said they had no such person and we’d have to be referred to RVI Newcastle. I’ll phone the surgery in the morning.
Going to A&E meant I didn’t have time to go with the children to the Hoppings, one of the biggest travelling fairs in Europe. I gave them some spending money. Most rides are £5 but one was £9. I wonder how long it will be worth them coming as so many won’t can afford it.
We also fitted in a Sainsbury trip. Diesel was 138 which is the cheapest we’ve seen, apart from Scotland. I didn’t have much luck with the food shopping. No chicory, spring onions, pomegranates, grapefruit, tahini paste, packets of mixed seeds, Brazil nuts. Gone are the days when you could get everything on the list. (Nothing to do with Brexit - it’s Putin!). It’s an opportunity to improvise my menus.
I picked these roses when we got back then did a bit of cooking for our Irish visitors coming tomorrow.
