On The Water
Opportunities to row are becoming fewer, with the IoS Championships out of the way few of the ‘crew’ row in the weekly sessions, others have things planned which clash with the sessions which in turn means we often have insufficient numbers.
There are events planned over the next two weekends but with the coming weekend being the Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival with Fathers Day on the Sunday and Armed Forces Day 23 over the following weekend I won’t be holding my breath. The coming Sunday will be a ‘long’ row as part of the Falmouth Classics Week Parade of Sail, out round Black Rock and back, I’m looking forward to it, I think, I have the Falklands Challenge to do on the Saturday first though.
So this evening we rowed out from Ponsharden to the harbour where we briefly tied up alongside one of the Devoran gigs which in turn was tied up on one of the NMMC pontoons.
The trip out with clear skies and a warm sun was enjoyable enough apart from the gig, Epic Energy, taking on water through split planks and gaps between planks.
Two inches above the bottom boards within half an hour.
