A sociable Glasgow Ramblers walk around Bannockburn starting and finishing at the NTS Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre. The exact site of the battle is disputatious and we walked past several possible locations. One of them was close to this remarkable bridge was designed by Thomas Telford, an unusual circular arch in order to support the weight of the earth on either side of the bridge.

Unfortunately the immersive visitor experience was fully booked so we settled for coffee and cake in the cafe instead and caught the fast Dundee to Glasgow back, taking less than half the time of the outgoing McGills bus that stopped at every lamp post.
