Indigenous History Month

This feather carving is in the entranceway of a house nearby.
June is National Indigenous History Month In Canada. In the spirit of reconciliation, Canadians are encouraged, and provided opportunities, to learn more about Indigenous culture.
The feather is a powerful and esteemed symbol to most North American Indigenous peoples. It is believed to be a connection to the Creator via the bird who was the previous owner. Eagle feathers are the most powerful because the Eagle is considered the be the strongest and soars the highest.
In Saskatchewan, feathers are now being used, whenever appropriate, as a symbol of truth, in the same way that a bible might be used.
