A Surrealist Selfie

One of my favourite painters is the surrealist Rene Magritte so for today's blip I thought I would attempt a surrealist self portrait.
One his paintings from 1952 is called "Personal Values" where he presents a room filled with familiar things, but he gives human proportions to these formerly unassuming props of everyday life, creating a sense of disorientation and incongruity.
Another of his paintings, and perhaps his best known, is "The Son Of Man" from 1946. Magritte painted it as a self-portrait. The painting consists of a man in an overcoat and a bowler hat standing in front of a low wall, beyond which are the sea and a cloudy sky. The man's face is largely obscured by a hovering green apple. However, the man's eyes can be seen peeking over the edge of the apple.
I couldn't quite stretch to a levitating apple, or indeed a bowler hat, overcoat and seascape in the background but here is my poor man's version of trying to combine both paintings in a single image. My variant instead includes an old mirror, the back wall of one of our bedrooms, a shortbread biscuit tin, a cactus, a psychedelic patterned gift box and a vase of dead flowers held above my head one-handed whilst trying to take this shot at the same time. Don't try this at home kids!
Surrealism is supposed to about the unconscious or subconscious mind - not entirely sure what this says about mine! :-)
