Into the evening sun

The last boat of the day passes our mooring for our final night on the Happy Wren. Another fine cruise this morning back to Ellesmere. All too short as we were moored up near the marina at 1.00pm.

The weather was again excellent, sunny and warm with a gentle breeze. We walked around part of the Mere and into the town and back along the tow path, speaking to an Australian lady who had just completed the trip to Llangollen as part of an extensive 14 week tour of UK and Europe.

All packed up and ready to unload tomorrow morning. The trip doesn’t end here as we have a couple of days at a B&B in Cressage before travelling home on Sunday. We didn’t fancy the journey back to Kent on a Friday.

I love the light in this image. To me, this is the abiding memory I shall have of this canal. The shaded and tree lined giving fine reflections and a myriad of greens. It’s not all like this of course, there are stretches of open, rolling countryside which are equally as splendid.

Thank you for all your comments during the week. It seems like you have enjoyed the trip as well.
