Teachers Gathering

This is one of a series of meetings of this year's crew of Primary Teachers for the Summer course in Malawi.
This will be the fifth year of a teacher Training/Mentoring programme where Experienced Irish Primary Teachers go to Malawi to work with their Malawian counterparts, working on a project in English using the Malawi curriculum.
This has been a hugely successful project and now impacts 25,ooo students in 16 schools, in two districts in Northern Malawi.
Working with the District Education Manager and the inspectorate, the idea is to now train Malawi teachers to deliver the course themselves and expand to more districts.
Teachers give up their holidays while paying all their own flights and expenses. while Malawi teachers give up their holidays and get no pay or allowances.
Probably the most cost effective education project in the world.
