my own roses are blooming

I've never been much of a gardener, although I certainly do appreciate the beauty of a plot full of flowers.
When we moved to our current dwelling it came with a rosebush on the east side. It was competing with tall weeds and I did not notice it. But once a pop of pink was noticeable I pulled out the weeds to enjoy the roses.  There was only one rose that year. Each year it has produced more and more, so I must be doing something right with my benign neglect.
