The Thatcher’s mark.

The top of this roof in the village has recently been thatched and it was lovely to see the ducks he had left as his trade mark. Over time lots of different animals have been used and at one time they were thought to ward off evil spirits.and deter birds from landing. The other common animal seen in the village is the cat. More appropriate for deterring birds I think.
