At the Grovetown Lagoon….

A heavy frost this morning. Cold, cold very cold. Despite sunshine and the heat pump I still felt cold…. Until the afternoon. I was picked up by friends Carolyn and Barry from Christchurch. We drove out to the Grovetown Lagoon which is a lovely oxbow lake formed 155 years ago when the Wairau River changed course turning a bend in the river Into the lake. Community volunteers are working at the restoration of the lagoon to enhance the habitat for fish and birdlife. The three of us took a leisurely walk around the well-formed tracks, taking photographs of the environment. Thank you, Carolyn and Barry.
