The Race Across America left from the Oceanside Pier today. I was hoping for a mass start of the 175 riders who will travel 3,000 miles (4,828 km) from here to Annapolis, MD, but the organizers dispatched them by team, so the most I could capture at one time was four. The fastest time according to the announcer is five days and some odd hours. Most teams and individuals will take between seven and twelve days. A long time on a bike.
